A Kodiak man has been appointed to a seat on the Alaska Commission on Aging. David Blacketer was appointed to fill the vacancy on the commission when Kodiak’s Iver Malutin died in June.
Blacketer is a retiree from Safeway and serves on the board of directors of the Senior Citizens of Kodiak. Working with the Salvation Army, he is also an on-call chaplain for Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center.
The Alaska Commission on Aging approves comprehensive statewide plans that identify concerns and needs of older Alaskans and prepares an annual analysis of the services that are provided to them.
