Kodiak Nabs State Committee Seats

Late last month, Governor Sean Parnell announced a series of appointments to various Alaska boards and commissions. Among those were a few Kodiak nominees – specifically to the Alaska Seismic Hazards Safety Commission.
Kodiak’s Laura Kelly was reappointed to that commission, as was Bud Cassidy and Gary Carver.
Kelly is a civil design engineer for the U.S. Coast Guard Facilities Engineering Division and was the USCG Engineer of the Year in 2009. She was reappointed to the seat reserved for a federal agency representative.
Cassidy serves as the current borough manager and previously was the logistics and planning chief for Kodiak’s Incident Command. He will serve as the commission’s local government representative.
Carver is a research consultant at Carver Geological Inc., and was reappointed to the public seat on the commission.
