KMXT Loses Friend, Volunteer, Board Member

Sad news friends; KMXT’s Ron Sears passed away from complications of a congenital heart condition this (Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2015) morning at 2:30; his mother was with him at Providence Hospital in Anchorage.

Ron’s first involvement with KMXT came while participating in a live performance of A Christmas Carol, and blossomed to include on-air volunteering, serving on the Community Advisory Board and Board of Directors and spending more years on Jock of the Rock than makes any good sense (a real sports fan, he love JOTR). He was even voted KMXT Volunteer of the Year.

Despite a near-debilitaing stroke three-and-a-half years ago, Ron barely slowed down. His sense of humor, intelligence and and care for public radio in Kodiak will be missed. A lot.

No word on local arrangements yet, but his family’s address is 3483 Avalon Dr., #231, Hood River, Oregon 97031 if you’d like to send condolences.
