Clients are happy with the programs at a local senior center according to an annual survey from the organization.

Senior Citizens of Kodiak Inc. is a nationally accredited senior center and provides a variety of programs to achieve its mission statement: “To enhance the lives of older adults.” One of those is the Nutrition, Transportation, and Supports Service. A press release from SCOK states that 100% of respondents would recommend it and 85% say their living environment has improved since coming to the center.

SCOK’s services range from providing games, exercise, and arts and crafts to in-home cleaning services that help enhance clients’ quality of life and decrease home injury. SCOK Executive Director Pat Branson says the majority of responses were positive. And if there’s something missing, staff is open to hearing that feedback.

“How we find out what people want is through the surveys that we do,” says Branson. “We have a suggestion box. We have an open door policy that people come tell us what they might or need.”

Branson says the staff will review the surveys next week and send them to the board as well as to funders like the city and state.
