Kodiak Area Salmon Catch Hurdles 1-Million

The pink salmon hit Kodiak area nets hard Tuesday, according to the Fish and Game daily harvest estimate, almost doubling the season total in one day. 168,874 humpies were delivered, bringing the season total to over 355,000.

A big slug of sockeye were caught as well, with over 43,000 harvested, boosting the season catch to over a half-million.

There were about 21,600 chum brought in, bumping the total catch to about 153,000. About 10,600 silvers were delivered, putting the season catch just over 59,000, and there were 545 king salmon caught, boosting the deliveries of the big fish to over 3,700.

Overall, 244,667 salmon were caught on Tuesday, putting the season all-species harvest at 1,082,523.
