The City of Kodiak has a new, permanent finance director. City Manager Aimee Kniaziowski made the announcement earlier this month that Kelly Clinton Mayes has accepted the job.

Mayes comes from Alabama where she was a certified public accountant, performing audits throughout various fields beyond government, including nonprofits, manufacturing, shipping and the automotive industries. Her degree in accounting comes from the University of Southern Alabama in Mobile.

Kniaziowski said Mayes’ experience and energy provides the finance department with an energetic and skilled leader.

Mayes took over from Karl Swanson, who served as an interim finance director after long-time director Mary Munk resigned.
