Sea Hawk 1

The largest percentage of debris on beaches around Kodiak Island is plastic bottles of all shapes and sizes with the majority of these being plastic water bottles. Plastic bottles take 700 years before they begin to decompose. It takes over 1.5 million barrels of oil to manufacture a year’s supply of bottled water. That’s enough oil to fuel 100,000 cars. Eight out of 10 plastic water bottles become landfill waste or litter.

Sea Hawk Air suggests you filter your own water and reuse plastic bottles rather than throwing them away.
