Stutes Optimistic as Legislature Nears Mid Session

As the Alaska State Legislature nears its half-way point, the pace is quickening to reconcile the various budget plans designed to put a dent in the state’s massive revenue shortfall.

Kodiak Representative Louise Stutes, chair of the House Special Committee on Fisheries, said she and her colleagues have maintained their pledge from last month to only concentrate on business focused on the budget crisis

“We’ve had no personal legislation, no legislation addressed on the House side unless it has something to do directly with the budget, either revenue generating, or cost-saving,” she said.

Stutes will be making a quick visit to Kodiak for the weekend, and will be available Friday at her office on Center Ave.
