The National Tsunami Warning Center in Palmer has issued a statement that NO tsunami is expected after a sizable earthquake off the coast of Ecuador this morning.
The 6.8-magnitude quake struck at 8:47 Alaska time, just two-tenths of a degree north of the equator at a depth of 42 miles.
The statement from the Tsunami Warning Center said the quake was not sufficient to generate a tsunami for Alaska, British Columbia, Washington, Oregon and California.
No further messages from the National Tsunami Warning Center are expected.
