Dog Eared Reads Episode 11

Beyond the Cover Feature: This month we speak with Dani Pettrey, author of The Alaskan Courage series, including the bestselling novels Submerged, Shattered, Stranded, Silenced, and Sabotaged, as well as the short story Shadowed, which is featured in the novella collection entitled Sins of the Past.  This high adventure, inspirational romance series takes place in the fictional town of the Kodiak Archipelago called Yancey, Alaska; and we talk with her about what made her choose the Kodiak area for her books.  Dani’s Alaskan Courage Series has been honored with the Daphne du Maurier award, two HOLT Medallions, a Christy Award nomination, two National Readers’ Choice Awards, the Gail Wilson Award of Excellence, and Christian Retailing’s Best Award, among others.

Lively LibChats:  Katie Baxter, director of the Kodiak Public Library, shares with us some of the highlights of the 2016 Summer Reading Program that kicked off on June 1st, as well as brief reviews of some of the books features in the program.  She also gives us an update on how the Alaska Legislature and the state budget will affect the library in the coming year, and the outcome of the fight to keep the OWL (Online-With-Libraries) in the budget.
