Two Applicants Remain for Assembly Consideration

One of three Kodiak Island citizens who tossed their hats in the ring for a temporary seat on the Kodiak Island Borough Assembly has reached in and snatched it back out.

Jeff Stewart, in a letter to the borough clerk’s office yesterday, asked that his application be withdrawn because of irregular travel plans outside of Kodiak that have come up since his filing.

That leaves Scott Smiley and Monique Lewis as the two candidates to be considered to sit on the assembly until the October municipal elections are certified. The vacancy was created when Mel Stephens resigned.
