The bag and possession limit for sockeye salmon in the Saltery Cove drainage has just been raised to 10 fish starting today. The escapement goal for sockeye salmon at that drainage is 15,000 to 35,000, and the Saltery Creek weird count was roughly 12,500 on July 4. Based on that number and historical data, the Alaska Department of Fish and Game projects that the escapement will be exceeded, and they’re therefore raising the possession limit. Out of that ten fish, anglers are allowed no more than five pink and chum salmon and no more than two coho salmon.
