Kodiak holds Community Clean Up Day

Kodiak residents will rally to clean local streets tomorrow – at least that’s the hope of the Kodiak Chamber of Commerce.

The Chamber organizes Community Clean Up day every year, and executive Director Trevor Brown says participation usually depends on weather, but so does the amount of trash strewn around town.

“It’s been a rough winter with the wind. I think everybody’s noticing a lot more garbage along the roads this year, so we’d like to get a good turnout, get it cleaned up.”

He says unfortunately the event happens the day after the season’s first cruise ship arrives, but the event is for locals too, not just visitors.

Community members who want to help out should meet in the high school parking lot on Saturday at 9 a.m.
