A Kodiak-based vessel, the Sea Breeze, hit a rock near the City of Kodiak Wednesday morning.

According to Marion Owen, who runs the boat as a dinner cruise with her husband, Marty Owen, they struck a rock near Gull Island at about 11:30 a.m.

She says she and her husband own the boat through their business, Galley Gourmet.

She says she was cleaning up below deck at the time and hit her head when they made impact.

They had to beach the boat, she says, and two other vessels came to their aid. She and her husband went to the hospital from there.

The Coast Guard was notified by the Sea Breeze after the fact. Coast Guard officials say the fishing vessel Trophy II took all eight passengers to safety and the Owens were taken to the hospital, checked and released.

Coast Guard Marine Safety Detachment Kodiak is investigating.
