“I found this experience to be interesting on multiple levels,” said Ensign Jacob Ricci, an officer of the deck aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Alex Haley. “It was really impressive to see the level of coordination between the different entities involved in making this weekend come together as it did. With so many moving parts, it really was a testament to the professionalism of the various units in how seamlessly everything meshed in the end.”

As part of a joint training exercise between the #CoastGuard and the 176th Wing, Alaska Air National Guard, members of Coast Guard #MaritimeSecurityResponseTeamWest conducted various training evolutions with an Alaska Air National Guard UH-60G Pave Hawk helicopter aircrew near #Kodiak, Alaska.

MSRT West team members practiced extremely technical and advanced techniques during their fast-roping evolutions and ladder climbs from the helicopter onto the flight deck of the Alex Haley.

“Overall, this was great training for all involved,” said Ricci. “I’d be more than glad to conduct similar training in the future. Building these relationships and partnerships was enlightening and leaves me proud of my ship and my crew.”
