KMXT kicks off spring fund drive with bench press competition

KMXT kicked off the spring fund drive with the annual Ron Sears Memorial Bench Press Competition at Kodiak Athletic Club on Saturday. Partnering with Lindsay Knight, owner of Kodiak Athletic Club, 18 participants joined the fundraiser to compete in either half- or full-body weight bench press.

Among those who participated were Kodiak’s Special Olympics Team. Each athlete collected pledges from the community to earn money for each rep they completed — in total, they collected hundreds of dollars to support local public radio!

Women’s Half Weight — Leslie Foy, 65 lbs x 38 reps

Men’s Half Weight — Ray Jeffies, 110 lbs x 64 reps

Men’s Full Weight — Jurey Fortaliza, 165 lbs x 36 lbs

Masters — Juan Rodriguez, 100 lbs x 49 reps

Teen — Gabriel Quambao, 95 lbs x 70 reps

Pre-Teen — Isaac Rodriques, 85 lbs x 5 reps

Special Olympics — Eric Mangrobang, 90 lbs x 31 reps; Ahron Dolf, 75 lbs x 30 reps; Amy Canavan, 75 lbs x 24 reps; Morgan Griffin, 45 lbs x 17 reps
