Cruise ship Silver Explorer makes port on Saturday, will be in town 8 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The cruise ship Silver Explorer is scheduled to make port in Kodiak at 8:00 Saturday morning.  

The ship, which is operated by Silver Sea Expeditions, is making its way from Seward to Nome by way of the Russian Far East.  The cost of the luxury 18-day voyage starts at $13,000, according to the company’s website. 

The Silver Explorer was in Kodiak last week on its way to Seward.

It measures approximately 355 feet and can carry up to 103 passengers and 123 crew.

It’s expected to depart the dock at 1:30 Saturday afternoon.

Please be extra careful when driving downtown on Saturday while the ship’s passengers will be visiting.
