School concerts and Joe Floyd Tournament fill last week before winter break

The fall semester is winding down for Kodiak Island Borough Schools, but that doesn’t mean things are slowing down.

The winter break begins Monday Dec. 23 and runs through Friday Jan. 3.

But in this week before then there are four winter concerts and the annual Joe Floyd Basketball Tournament.

Thursday is also the day when dribblers from many Alaska communities converge on Kodiak for the 53rd Annual Joe Floyd Basketball Tournament.

The event is named after long-time Kodiak teacher and coach, Joe Floyd, who was instrumental in developing Kodiak’s sports and athletic programs.
