In a press release Friday afternoon, the Kodiak Area Emergency Services Organization announced two new positive test results for COVID-19 in Kodiak.
Both cases are believed to be community spread. At this time, the ESC has not indicated if these are resident or non-resident cases. The individuals are in self-isolation.
Public health officials have made contact with the individuals and will monitor their condition and care. A contact investigation is underway.
The Alaska Department of Health and Social Services announced 30 new cases in the state today. These new cases include twenty residents and ten non-residents.
Because Kodiak announced cases number eight and nine today, they probably won’t be reflected in the total state count until this weekend.
This is a developing story.
