Kodiak COVID-19 count doubles in one week: 7 new cases Saturday

In the past week, the Kodiak COVID-19 Count has nearly doubled.  On Saturday, the Kodiak Area Emergency Services Organization reported seven new cases in a remote area of the the Kodiak Island Borough.

All seven cases are non-resident, travel related and involve people in the seafood industry. This brings the case count in the Kodiak area to 32, with 16 classified as active.

Nine other positive tests were reported this week. They also involve non-residents and are travel-related. Four were connected to the seafood industry.

Out of the 32 cases reported in Kodiak, most are travel related and involve non-residents. Most of those testing positive are also in their twenties.
