Kodiak COVID Count: As Kodiak nears 100 active cases, hospital takes measures

Right after Thanksgiving, Kodiak is on the cusp of 100 active cases of COVID-19.

Three COVID hospitalizations have caused the hospital to activate its surge plan, including standing up additional beds for COVID patients and cancelling most outpatient procedures.

Today (Friday) the Kodiak Area Emergency Services Organization announced 15 new cases for the Kodiak Island Borough. Two cases are travel related, nine are close contacts of previously announced cases, three cases are classified as community spread, and one case is under investigation.

This brings the total case count associated with the Kodiak Island Borough to 271, with 94 of those cases classified as active.
