Kodiak COVID Count: Three new cases, 42 in two weeks

Kodiak’s COVID-19 count rose by three more cases on Tuesday, which brings the total number of cases in the past two weeks to 42.

The Kodiak Area Emergency Services Organization says one of the new cases involves a Kodiak resident who traveled recently. The other two cases haven’t been classified yet, because they are still under investigation. Contact tracing is also underway for the new infections.

Currently, 35 cases are considered active. The total number of cases for the Kodiak region since the first outbreak in April is now at 137.

The current risk status for the Kodiak region is at the yellow or medium level. It went from green to yellow on Oct. 30. The yellow risk level prohibits gatherings of more than 20 people without masks and the necessary social distancing.
