Coast Guard rescues three hunters from beached vessel in Barlow Cove

Three hunters were rescued by the Coast Guard Cutter Bailey Barcow from a beached vessel in Barlow Cove on Thursday, 15 miles northwest of Juneau.

The cutter dispatched a small boat crew which picked up the hunters and transferred them to a Coast Guard Station Juneau 45-foot Response Boat- Medium Crew, who transferred them to emergency medical services in Statter Harbor.

Sector Juneau watchstanders were alerted around 12:30 pm by the hunters, who deliberately beached the boat to prevent the flooding vessel from sinking. They were able to transfer their supplies to shore and shelter from the weather. No injuries were reported.

On-scene weather at the time of the rescue was an air temperature of 34 degrees and 11 mph winds.
