Kodiak COVID Count: Active cases climb, as first year of pandemic comes to a close

The Kodiak Area Emergency Services Organization reported six new cases of COVID-19 for the Kodiak Island Borough, including five new close contact cases and one new travel related case.

This brings the total case count for the Kodiak Island Borough to 912 cases since the start of the pandemic, with 87 cases classified as active locally.

There have been 37 local hospitalizations to date, with two patients currently hospitalized. There have been five deaths to date due to COVID-19.

There are currently three sites offering Covid-19 testing in Kodiak:

Kodiak Area Native Association KANA

Monday-Friday: 8:30 am- 5:30 pm, Saturday: 10 am- 4 pm

Testing site: 3472 Rezonof Drive East (behind Eyecare Excellence)

Airport testing: Available only for incoming travelers and outgoing village/ remote site travelers.
