Kodiak COVID Count: Hospitalizations decrease, as active case count rises marginally

The Kodiak Area Emergency Services Organization has reported 21 new COVID-19 cases for the Kodiak Island Borough. Of these cases, there have been 5 community transmission cases and 16 close contact cases.

These cases include one case tested and not previously reported on December 10th, one on December 11th, one on December 12th, two on December 14th, four on December 15th, and 12 new cases on December 16th.

This brings the total case count in the Kodiak Island Borough to 766 cases to date, with 234 cases classified as active locally.

There have been 31 hospitalizations locally since the start of the pandemic, with 4 patients currently hospitalized; there have been four deaths locally due to COVID-19 to date.

There are currently three sites offering Covid-19 testing in Kodiak:

Kodiak Area Native Association KANA

Monday-Friday: 8:30 am- 5:30 pm, Saturday: 10 am- 4 pm

Testing site: 3472 Rezonof Drive East (behind Eyecare Excellence)

Airport testing: Available only for incoming travelers and outgoing village/ remote site travelers.
