Kodiak COVID Count: Kodiak passes 200 active cases

The Kodiak Area Emergency Services Organization has reported an extreme jump in new cases of COVID-19 on Kodiak, as well as new hospitalizations.

They also reported a total of 19 hospitalizations to date, with 6 patients currently hospitalized. One patient was transported off island Monday for a higher level of care. There have been two deaths to date due to COVID-19 on Kodiak.

Sixty-three new cases have been reported for the Kodiak Island Borough; these cases included 17 community transmission cases, 40 close contact cases, and six travel related cases.

These cases represented one case not previously reported and tested on November 30^th, five on December 2^nd, six on December 3^rd, seven on December 4^th, eight on December 5^th, one on December 6^th, and 35 new cases tested on December 7^th.

This brings the total case count to 541 cases since the start of the pandemic, with 224 cases classified as active locally.
