Kodiak COVID Count: New cases drop sharply, active cases dip

There has been a sudden drop in new COVID-19 cases on Kodiak, with the Kodiak Emergency Services Organization reporting only five new cases today; all from December 17th. These included two travel related cases, two close contact cases, and one community transmission case.

This brings the total case count to 771 cases in the Kodiak Island Borough since the start of the pandemic, with 189 cases classified as active locally.

There have been 31 hospitalizations to date locally, with five patients hospitalized presently. There have been four deaths due to COVID-19 to date in Kodiak.

There are currently three sites offering Covid-19 testing in Kodiak:

Kodiak Area Native Association KANA

Monday-Friday: 8:30 am- 5:30 pm, Saturday: 10 am- 4 pm

Testing site: 3472 Rezonof Drive East (behind Eyecare Excellence)

Airport testing: Available only for incoming travelers and outgoing village/ remote site travelers.
