Following a waterline failure in the community of Angoon, Alaska, the Coast Guard Cutter Hickory delivered nearly 7000 bottles of water to those in need.

The Coast Guard District 17 Command Center received a request Saturday from the Alaska Emergency Operations Center for assistance transporting the water bottles.

Waterline failures left a third of the Angoon community without water altogether, and the remainder of the community was advised to boil water before consumption. The local store had run out of water, and commercial services were unable to deliver the water quickly enough.

The Hickory is a 225-foot sea-going buoy tender based in Homer.
