Kodiak sees surge in COVID-19 cases; 25 active cases reported by EOC

Kodiak has seen an explosive surge in COVID-19 cases. Three active cases were reported July 9th– 11 days later, that number has swelled to 25 active cases. This was confirmed today by the Kodiak Emergency Operations Center.

According to their press release from today, details regarding test dates and means of transmission are not currently available, but will be provided as soon as that information becomes available.

There was no information on the vaccination status of those infected.

This brings the current case count associated with the Kodiak Island Borough to 1164, with 25 cases classified as active locally.

There have been 49 hospitalizations and five deaths to date due to COVID-19 in Kodiak. There are no active cases currently hospitalized locally.
