Kodiak COVID 19 Update August 16, 2021

Today (Monday) the Kodiak Emergency Operations Center reported twenty-three (23) new cases of COVID 19 for the Kodiak Island Borough.

 

Seven (7) cases are close contacts of previously reported cases, and sixteen (16) cases are of unknown transmission, pending contact tracing.

 

One hundred nine (109) cases are currently classified as active locally. There is one case currently hospitalized in Kodiak, and local health care providers remain busy with COVID 19 positive patients seeking care.

 

To date, one thousand four hundred twenty four (1424) cases, fifty-nine (59) hospitalizations, and five (5) deaths have been associated with COVID 19 for the Kodiak Island Borough.

 

Residents are encouraged to stay home if ill.

 

Close contacts of positive cases should socially distance and wear masks.

 

Before attending social gatherings residents should consider the number of people attending, and the ability to gather outside, while socially distancing.
