Alaska Redistricting Board to hold open house in Kodiak

The Alaska Redistricting Board will be having a Friday afternoon open house hearing to discuss the proposed plans for redistricting the state.

Kodiak’s House district could be altered under six different proposed plans, sometimes adopting wide swaths of land from Homer and southcentral Alaska, and in other versions encompassing just the island and the nearby coast- all plans have around 18,000 people represented.

The open house will be held from noon to 2 p.m. Friday in the Afognak Building at 300 Alimaq Drive on Near Island. The board will hear public testimony at the meeting, as well as via email at testimony@akredistrict.org. Masks are required and social distancing measures will be in effect.
