April 10, 2020 ESC COVID-19 Update – No. 4

Kodiak, Alaska – As of April 10, 2020, there are no confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Kodiak.

  • On Thursday, April 9, 2020, the Emergency Services Director (ESD) held a fourth live update to provide information on Kodiak’s response to COVID-19. The ESD provided an update to the community and answered several frequently asked questions. A “Frequently Asked Questions” document is in development, and will soon be available on the Kodiak Emergency Operations Center Facebook page, and on the City’s website:city.kodiak.ak.us
  • Effective today and until further notice, all Kodiak playground equipment has been closed. The parks themselves remain open for use, but use of playground equipment is prohibited.
  • On Friday, April 3, 2020, the State of Alaska issued Health Alert 010: Recommendations regarding cloth face coverings. The Emergency Services Council, Governor Dunleavy, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend the use of cloth face coverings when out in public, particularly in places where other social distancing measures are difficult to maintain (e.g., grocery stores).   • On Wednesday, April 9, 2020, Governor Dunleavy extended Mandate 011 on Social Distancing and Mandate 012 on Intrastate Travel until April 21, 2020. The Governor also issued Mandate 013 on K-12 Public and Private Schools, which extends the statewide public and private school closure to the end of the 2019-2020 school
  • The Emergency Services Council (ESC) will host a live broadcast question and answer forum on Thursday, April 16, 2020 at 12:00pm. Community members are encouraged to email questions to pio@city.kodiak.ak.us before 12:00pm on Wednesday, April 15,
