Past Kodiak Votes for President
Curious about how Kodiak voters have voted in previous presidential elections?
It may come as no surprise that, since the year 2000, Kodiak voters have preferred the Republican nominee. But that preference is shrinking. For the first decade, the Republican nominee could count on 2/3 of Kodiak voters, but now that margin is down to close to 50%. The Democratic nominees, though, have seen a slight increase in Kodiak support, close to 40%.
And, since the 2000 presidential election, Kodiak voters have agreed with the majority of voters nationwide only once, in 2004.
2000
- Bush (R): 63% of Kodiak votes
- Gore (D): 25% [won national popular vote]
2004
- Bush (R): 64% [won national popular vote]
- Kerry (D): 33%
2008
- McCain (R): 63%
- Obama (D): 34% [won national popular vote]
2012
- Romney (R): 55%
- Obama (D): 41% [won national popular vote]
2016
- Trump (R): 50%
- Clinton (D): 36% [won national popular vote]
