The Kodiak Area Emergency Services Organization has reported an extreme jump in new cases of COVID-19 on Kodiak, as well as new hospitalizations.
They also reported a total of 19 hospitalizations to date, with 6 patients currently hospitalized. One patient was transported off island Monday for a higher level of care. There have been two deaths to date due to COVID-19 on Kodiak.
Sixty-three new cases have been reported for the Kodiak Island Borough; these cases included 17 community transmission cases, 40 close contact cases, and six travel related cases.
These cases represented one case not previously reported and tested on November 30th, five on December 2nd, six on December 3rd, seven on December 4th, eight on December 5th, one on December 6th, and 35 new cases tested on December 7th.
This brings the total case count to 541 cases since the start of the pandemic, with 224 cases classified as active locally.
