The public comment period for the summer ferry schedule is now open.
According to the Alaska Marine Highway System’s proposed operating plan for this summer, which covers May through September, the Tustumena will make two to four stops in Kodiak each week, with one Aleutian Chain trip per month. The Tusty will also stop in Ouzinkie and Port Lions 1-2 times per week. And the Kenicott will make two trips across the Gulf each month, stopping in Kodiak on the way.
The schedule was made with the state budget and service demand, due to COVID-19, in mind. But the Alaska Marine Highway System would also like to know of any special events that communities might need special scheduling for. The proposed schedule already accounts for Kodiak’s Crabfest in late May.
You can provide written comments by February 7 by emailing dot.amhs.comments@alaska.gov.
A public teleconference will take place February 8, during which residents can call in to make a comment: 1-515-604-9000, access code 279613. The meeting for Kodiak schedules will take place at 1:30 pm.
