Kodiak man found after being reported missing over the weekend

A Kodiak man, Jericho Samson, has been found after being reported missing over the weekend. A spokesperson from the Kodiak Police Department says Samson was found in town and in good health on Monday (Oct. 2).

The spokesperson said in a call that Samson was reported missing by his family after missing an appointment last week. The family was concerned about him because he is autistic, but the spokesperson said Samson is an adult and has no legal guardianship and because of that, is entitled to choose whether or not to attend his appointments.

Born and raised in Dillingham, Brian Venua attended Gonzaga University before graduating and ultimately returning to Alaska. He moved to Kodiak and joined KMXT in 2022. Venua has since won awards for the newsroom as both a writer and photojournalist, with work focused on strengthening community, breaking down complex topics, and sharing stories of and for the people of the Kodiak Archipelago.
