The Forest Service announced in July that the U.S. Capitol Christmas Tree would come from the Wrangell Ranger District of the Tongass National Forest, only the second time an Alaska tree will light up the official spot on the Capitol lawn.

An Anchorage couple has been arrested after a shooting in Mountain View Friday evening that left a man dead. And Wrangell’s been busy over the past few months preparing to send a 74-foot Sitka spruce to Washington D.C., as this year’s Capitol Christmas Tree.
