Coach Joe Floyd leaves legacy of kindness and encouragement to generations of Kodiak High School students

Kodiak’s athletic community lost an icon this past weekend with the passing of Joe “Coach” Floyd. Floyd and his wife Carolyn moved to Kodiak in the 1950s. KHS Bears Remain Impressive and Unbeaten on Gridiron

The Kodiak High School Bears football team extended its unbeaten streak to three on the new season. Kodiak dropped the Homer Mariners 56 to 32 on Friday at the Joe Floyd Field. Bears Compete in Bartlett XC Preview Meet

The Kodiak High School Bears cross-country squads both finished at about the middle of the pack at the Bartlett Cross-Country State Preview meet Saturday in Anchorage. The Kodiak boys tied for ninth place with Chugiak High. Both teams scored 275 points. West Anchorage won with 58 points, followed by South Anchorage, Service, Homer and Dimond.
