State Certifies General Election Results

The State of Alaska has made the November 8th General Election results official.

The certification Wednesday did not change the results in any of the races Kodiak residents voted on. Representative Louise Stutes is still returning to Juneau, even though her strongest challenger, Duncan Fields picked up six more votes since last week.

The final vote totals for local races:

House District 32, Republican Stutes won with 2,981 votes. Fields, running as an independent, had 2,777, while Democrat Brent Watkins had 1,128 votes.

Senator Gary Stevens received 5,671 votes in HD-32, and another 7,279 in HD-31, the Lower Kenai Peninsula.

The legislature convenes on January 17th.
