Co-op board of directors president moves off island

An active member of Kodiak’s nonprofit community moved back to the Lower 48 last week.

Merissa Koller-Williams was the coordinator of the community wellness nonprofit, Healthy Tomorrows, which closed last year after its funding from Providence Health & Services ran out.

Koller-Williams and Healthy Tomorrows helped form what is now the Kodiak Harvest Food Cooperative, which is trying to grow its membership in order to establish a store that sells locally grown produce.

Up until now, Koller-Williams has also been serving as the president of the co-op’s board of directors. The cooperative acknowledged Koller-Williams’ contribution at its annual meeting last week.

KMXT sat down with Koller-Williams after the meeting to talk about her experiences.
