Beyond the Cover Feature: Bob Holman is a leader in spoken word and poetry, as well a slam and hip hop master;  teacher at Columbia and New York University; and Producer of language and poetry based TV and Movies. Bob visited Kodiak as part of his Alaska tour to promote his film, Language Matters, which highlights the importance of language revitalization in our culture and world. Bob talks about his journey here and around Alaska, working with the Aluutiq Museum as well as other groups interested in salvaging some of the other 20 languages spoken in Alaska.  You’ll also hear about his favorite poets from history and which he would choose to be in an epic rap battle.
