Walton Leads Bears with Position on Conference All-Stars

The Northern Lights Conference announced its all-conference teams now that the football season wrapped up with the Soldotna Stars fifth consecutive state title.

In fact, it was those Stars that swept the highest player awards. Brenner Furlong was offensive player of the year, Wendell Tuisaula was his defensive counterpart, and lineman of the year went to their teammate Kyle Marcuson. Soldotna’s coach Galen Brantley split the coach of the year award with Palmer’s Rod Christiansen. The Moose’s Tim Popowski was the winner of assistant coaching honors.

For the Kodiak High School Bears, defensive back Shaun Walton made first team all-conference.

Walton also made second team offense as a tight end. Andreas Carros was named to the second as quarterback. His center Liam Kirven and outside tackle Braxton Bolen also made the squad.

Bolen was on the defensive second team as a lineman, along with Wesley Walker at defensive back, Derrick Rastopsoff at inside linebacker, and kicker Isaiah Galindez.
