Alaska Fisheries Report – June 28, 2018

Play

This week we look at king salmon. More specifically the lack of king salmon.

From Southeast Alaska to the Yukon River kings seem have lost their reign. Commercial, subsistence and sports fishers are feeling the lack.

One exception is Nushagak River where locals have started a new king salmon derby.

afr_logo_screen_size.gif     Kodiak Coast Guard units team up to nab a Chinese vessel illegally fishing off Japan.

We had help from Austin Fast at KDLG in Dillingham, Emily Kwong at KCAW in Sitka, Johanna Eurich at KYUK Bethel, Casey Grove Alaska Public Media and Daysha Eaton from KMXT in Kodiak.

Be safe fishing. We—and your family—wants you to come home safely.
