A Homer-based fishing boat ran hard aground on Saturday morning in Muskomee Bay on the north end of Raspberry Straight. The 42-foot Currency punctured its hull and was taking on water in its engine room, and requested dewatering pumps from the Coast Guard.
A Jayhawk helicopter from Air Station Kodiak diverted from a training mission and was on-scene within 20 minutes and delivered two pumps and an extra radio during two separate trips to the boat.
Lieutenant Jason Boyle of the Coast Guard’s Marine Safety Detachment in Kodiak says the Currency’s hull was patched Saturday night was successfully patched and refloated.

He said the fishing vessel Letun (le ton) towed the Currency back.
Boyle says the cause of the grounding has not been determined as of yet:

The currency had on board about 250 gallons of diesel fuel, but no release or pollution was reported. No injuries were sustained in the incident, and the three-member crew did not abandon ship.
