Mary Donaldson/KMXT

The U.S. Coast Guard received a request to medevac a 35-year old male that was reportedly suffering from chest pains onboard the 200-foot fishing vessel Ocean Peace, located 60 miles west of Goodnews Bay. A Coast Guard MH-60 Jayhawk rescue helicopter was launched from Air Station Kodiak at 1:10 p.m. Wednesday afternoon, and arrived at the vessel at 4:27 p.m. Goodnews bay is located west of Dillingham along the Alaska coastline.

A second request was also made to medevac a 36-year old man from the same vessel with a severely injured hand while the rescue helicopter was on scene. The crewmembers were safely hoisted by the rescue helicopter crew and were transported to King Salmon around 6:30 p.m., where they were transferred by Guardian Flight to Anchorage. The fishing vessel Ocean Peace’s homeport is Kodiak.
