Assembly Will Discuss State Wish List Tongiht

The Kodiak Island Borough Assembly will be holding a work session tonight – the first one they’ve had in nearly a month.

Topping the agenda is a conversation with Kodiak Senator Gary Stevens.

With Kodiak’s representation in the State House up in the air until after the November General Election, Stevens is the only member of the Kodiak delegation the assembly has to talk to about the next legislative session.

They will have the opportunity to discuss legislative priorities with borough lobbyist Mark Hickey, who will be in attendance tonight as well. Along those lines is a review of the borough’s capital improvements wish list for 2009.

The assembly will also go over other items from next week’s regular meeting agenda. One of the top items is the new Kodiak Area Coordinated Transportation plan for KATS, which will be up for a public hearing and adoption.

The remnants of the long-running Mel Stephens attendance lawsuit will come up again, in discussion of changing the borough code to allow assembly members to hire their own attorneys when they and the borough are sued.

The meeting will be at 7:30 tonight in the borough conference room.
