Coho Bag Limit Increases On Buskin

The daily bag limit for sport fishermen seeking silver salmon in the Buskin River is now five fish per day, five in possession.

The Alaska Department of Fish and Game announced that the Buskin weir count for coho reached 6,000 fish over the weekend. That’s well within the department’s goal of 32-hundred to 72-hundred fish. Fish and Game also projects that 10-thousand silvers will enter the Buskin River drainage before the run is over.

The announcement is good timing for sport anglers competing in the Kodiak Lion’s Club silver salmon derby, which lasts through the end of the month.

For the rest of the Kodiak road system, the bag limit will remain at five fish, only two of which can be coho or sockeye.
