Odell Bids Farewell To School Board

0 < ![endif]--> With the results of the October 7th municipal election now official, the Kodiak Island Borough Board of Education on Monday welcomed one new member, and swore in two members who were re-elected.

Petal Ruch ran a write in campaign, winning a one-year seat on the board. Incumbent Jeff Stephan was re-elected for another three-year term. Peggy Rauwolf, who was appointed to the board in June following the resignation of Peggy Tuttle, also won a three-year seat.

During board comments after being sworn in, Ruch said she’d be looking to other board members for guidance.

It was the last meeting for outgoing school board president Betty Odell. She gave a heartfelt goodbye speech in which she thanked many people in the district and community.

After Ruch, Rauwolf and Stephan were sworn in the board was reorganized. Long-time board member Norm Wooten was elected president by his fellow board members. Stephan was elected vice president, Melissa Borton clerk, and Rauwolf treasurer.
