On this week’s Alaska Fisheries Report:
The North Pacific Fishery Management Council wrapped up its meeting in Anchorage this week, and as expected, cut nearly 20 percent from the pollock fishery next year.
The council decided to do some more thinking about other issues, including processor quotas and crew shares in the Bering Sea crab fishery, latent licenses and sector splits and the fishery observer program.
Also this week, expanded sea otter protections are suggested for the Aleutians, and the city of Craig is getting closer to building a fisherman’s memorial.
