Dunbar Chooses University of Portland

The Oregonian newspaper is reporting that Kodiak High School senior Trevor Dunbar has selected the University of Portland as his college of choice this fall. Dunbar, the three-time defending state cross-country champion was considering several top running schools, including others in Oregon.

The Portland Pilots finished seventh in last year’s NCAA Cross Country Championships. Oregonian writer Doug Binder says Dunbar going to U of Portland is a major recruiting win for the small college, especially since the national champion Oregon Ducks were also on Dunbar’s short list.

In October, Dunbar set a course record at the Adidas Cross Country Classic held in Portland. Last month, he took second in the Foot Locker National High School Championships in San Diego.
